Poke Sallet
"Polk Salad Annie” is a 1968 song written and performed by Tony Joe White. Its lyrics describe the lifestyle of a poor rural Southern girl and her family. Traditionally, the term to describe the type of food highlighted in the song is polk or poke sallet, a cooked greens dish made from pokeweed.
IR Photo
May 1st image of my backyard. This infrared image was made with an iPhone SE. Bring up the camera app then increased the exposure by +1 stop, then set the image size to 16x9 format and finally set the style to B&W Noir. I handheld the iPhone while holding a R72 Infrared filter over the lens and made the image. I then resized the image in Photoshop 2022 for the web.
Trillium Set
The trilliums on Goat Island are starting to bloom this week. It's always a pleasure to visit the island on the first week of May to see the spring flowers. I was lucky to capture a few early trilliums today but by next week they all should be open.
