Columbus Ships in the Niagara Region
The Smith Bros. Marina is hosting two authentic replicas of the ships Columbus sailed to America with. The Nina and The Pinta replicas are docked in North Tonawanda this week. I ventured down there to see them and hopefully get a few nice shots of the ships. Here are a couple of my favorites. Click to enlarge.

Niagara Falls Panorama by Gary Muth / The Portrait Gallery Niagara

Today I went on to Goat Island at Niagara Falls and shot this 9 image panorama. The pano depicts the Canadian side of the border and includes the Rainbow Bridge and the Face of the American Falls. I stitched together 9 images in Photoshop CS5. The program really is a step up from CS4 because it handled the files expertly and it only took a few tweaks afterwards to complete the image. Light Painting by Niagara Falls Photographer Gary Muth

Light painting is a technique that has been around along time. Dave Black is a Nikon sports professional photographer and a master at this technique. Basically, you are making a very under exposed image and adding small amounts of light during a long exposure time. This lets you experiment and paint light to your photo only where you think it is needed. This affords the maker to be as creative as you want when making the image and is very for fulling as it mixes the technicalities of photography with the creativity of painting. Here is my attempt at a macro scene with this technique.

Niagara Falls Wedding Photographer at Buffalo Buffalo Botanical Gardens

We took a field trip out of town yesterday to look for signs of spring. We ended up at the Buffalo Botanical Gardens in Lackawanna, New York. A great place to visit and even greater place to have a wedding. The weather inside is always great and the peaceful, relaxing feeling you get is like a mini vacation in the winter season. In fact, one worker inside told me she loved it so much that she would work there for free. I took a few photos as we walked the paths inside each room. Artists and photogs come there every day to paint and shoot the luscious green foliage and beautiful flowers.
